Credit cards and bankruptcy

Cutting credit card debt

Bankruptcy clears credit card debt

When you have the protection of bankruptcy, all debt owing on your credit cards will be included in that protection. For that reason, you won’t have access to those cards.

Instead, we suggest you apply for a debit card. It means you still have the convenience of a card if you are traveling or shopping, but you are using your own money – and there is no risk of the extra fees and interest that come when credit cards are not paid on time.
