FAQs | What Happens When You Become Bankrupt?
Amounts owing for electricity, gas, and telephone are included in your bankruptcy. Having said that, while the amounts owing for electricity, gas, and telephone are included in your bankruptcy if you will continue to need these services, we recommend you continue to pay your utility bills to avoid the services being terminated.
If you have an amount owing to your utility supplier, we recommend you talk to that supplier and organise a repayment plan you can afford to catch things up. Also, do not forget that with your other debts caught by your bankruptcy, you will have more money available from your wages for the repayment plan payments, enabling you to maintain a continuous supply of utility services you need.
